Volarity Update

May 18, 2025

Volarity is postponed indefinitely. I got close to releasing it publicly but after a lot of contemplation I decided to pull the plug on it. The project was fully operational but I came across potential legal issues that are expected to arise if I ever decide to push it to production. I will review the project at a later date.

Why Volarity is Postponed

The project is primarily postponed because of two issues:

 maintenance overload and copyright issues.

This project takes a lot of precision when dealing with the distribution of high-value data. Originally, I intended to be brief regarding the data, but I ended up getting pulled down a rabbit hole of semantic complexity regarding contextual data patterns interlinking with one another.

As I was tracking information within the AI and Robotics sector I ended up learning a lot more of how it is used in this modern world, mainly in the domains of warfare and global defense. To be completely clear, I want to be as prudent as possible when distributing this information as it is highly sensitive and prone to copyright lawsuits.

Even in the scenario in which I remove product images, which I ended up doing, distributing data visually via text alone isn't really a satisfying way to understand the depth of the information to a non-informed consumer. I am aware that I could apply numerous data visualization techniques but current circumstances limit my ability to create them with as much mastery as I would like. Technical creep really took hold and I couldn't muster up any more ambition to finish the project. Combined with the prior statement and the high chance of me getting sued over copyright issues should I ever release this: Volarity is now postponed indefinitely. All in all, the project was fully operational, not complete front-end wise, but its functionality was completed.

Moving On from Volarity

I don't regret starting this project. In fact, I loved working on it. I gave myself my own purpose to pursue this passion of mine. I learned a lot while working on it. In fact I have a newfound appreciation for the internet in general. It feels like I can experience so much just in front of a screen.

Something that Volarity really inspired me to work on past this project is to look further into covert intelligence operations and its mechanisms inherent within social technologies. During my work on this project, I found that a lot of data is public but somewhat taboo when spoken publicly. In a way, this furthered my interest in seeing any way to make this sort of work more individually acknowledged from a neutral standpoint, not a defensive one.

Synoptically, technology is in its infancy compared to the age of mankind and I think we are just seeing the threshold of its effects on human behavior. I am fully interested and committed to seeing new combinations of behaviors and ideologies that stem from the changes that are implemented digitally.
